"The first thing I grab in the morning is a cup of coffee, while drinking it I dream about all the things I want to do in my life... and so it begins"

First day of Lock Down!

It’s technically the first day, but that’s not how we feel. Many things have already been tense and cancelled in India, starting from the beginning of this month. The biggest disappointment for me is the fact my dear friend from the Netherlands won’t be coming any more next week.

The moment we heard the news that India is not accepting tourists any more and that they have suspended all tourist visas including my friend’s, I could not really grasp it somehow, it didn’t really dawn on me until this morning.

First day of Lock Down...

We slept till noon, woke up, talked, read and prayed. We had coffee with left over Apple Pie from Vibin’s birthday yesterday. Then I gave Vibin a much-needed beard trim and I did some laundry.

While praying… I was thinking... my friend was supposed to come this coming Monday, I was thinking of my family and friends in the Netherlands and it was all just too much, a big lump in my throat and tears rolled over my cheeks, don’t know why I started feeling this way, I am never really home sick, but I guess situations like these make you want to be with the people you care about the most.

Of course, I have my hubby, so together we sat on the balcony, enjoying the quietness, looking at the birds, knowing God is still there, taking care of us, looking after us. We were brushing our cat and she enjoyed looking at the birds even more than us, then again, she is a cat.

Then what to do next… well we’ve got to eat, lets try a new recipe!

I made a Quiche with minced beef, onions and spinach, simply using the ingredients we have, we tried to order groceries from several stores today, but many stores already stopped taking orders by 10am this morning and we slept till noon, so yeah that didn’t work out today.

We have no idea how things really are outside, we hear interesting stories about people being yelled at or arrested when outside, we heard we need to carry a special paper (affidavit) when going outside, on why we are outside and when we will be home. And also, not sure yet if we can go out together, if it would be safe for me to go out by myself, or if it is just going to be Vibin.

The last couple of weeks I already noticed people giving me a very wide berth, “COVID-19 comes from white people you know…” haha that’s what they think, I guess. The other day I sat down in the metro, and two guys in front of me, stood up and sat down further into the metro leaving me all alone, I laughed inside myself… usually I cant spend 10 min outside without being touched/bumped into by a stranger, these days I was able to spend whole days outside and nobody touched me, bumped into me, pushed me or leaned against we while waiting in a line. So, there are things to be thankful for, I guess.

How are you doing? How is your situation? How are you filling in your days with fun things to do around the house?

Now I am going to eat my quiche. I’ll share the recipe soon!
